Erwin Wurm — 2024

Four monumental sculptures by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm transformed Baden-Baden’s historic Kurgarten into a space of unexpected encounters.

Presented in the open air, Big Suit, Big Disobedience, Giant Big, Me Ideal and The German Couch brought Wurm’s characteristic shifts of scale, anthropomorphic forms and subversive humour into direct dialogue with the city’s architecture and everyday life.

Clothing, furniture and familiar objects became sculptural propositions that challenged conventions of the body, behaviour and social identity. With the exhibition freely accessible to passers-by, the project invited an unmediated encounter with contemporary art beyond the boundaries of the museum.
