In his medium to large-format oil paintings, he allows abstract lines to interact with blurred figures in the background. The foreground lines seem to either approach a form or dissolve, while the artist blurs historical art quotations in the background. The motifs in the picture are no longer completely abstract, but have a certain connection to concrete representation, which is always questioned. His works constantly move between concrete representation and abstraction. Enrico Bach is inspired by old masters such as Rembrandt or Diego Velázquez and their ability to create an atmosphere and spaces by playing with light and dark values.

Enrico Bach (*1980, Leipzig) completed his master’s degree in 2011 at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe under Prof. Gustav Kluge. His works have been exhibited at the Guangdong Museum of Arts, Guangzhou, the Start Museum Shanghai, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, the Würth Collection, Schwäbisch Hall, the Ritter Collection, Waldenbuch, the KUNSTWERK Klein Collection, Eberdingen-Nussdorf, and the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. Enrico Bach lives and works in Karlsruhe.
