Gianna von Haehling / Director, Independent Curator
From her childhood, Gianna von Haehling was immersed in an artistic environment. Growing up next to an artist residency and public sculpture park in Durbach, southern Germany, she spent years observing artists working with stone, wood, and steel, and engaging in discussions about art in her parents’ garden. These experiences profoundly shaped her understanding of art and artistic practice.
Gianna later studied sports sciences at the prestigious Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln and moved to Berlin, where she spent many years developing interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of art, music, food, and body & mind experiences in collaboration with artist studios and galleries. Her work has always been driven by a curiosity for cross-disciplinary approaches and exploring the conjunctions of fine arts and applied arts.
Since 2018, together with Johann Alexis von Haehling Gianna has been based in Alsace, northern France, where she founded the artist residency “la maison.” Here she develops independent curatorial projects, exhibition concepts, and site-specific art experiences, often in collaboration with international artists, galleries, and institutions. Her work includes curating exhibitions for other galleries, advising on art-in-architecture projects for companies and cultural institutions, and fostering global artistic collaborations.
